The following resources provide critical context on what’s changing for registrar offices and why.

Being aware of what’s changing, and having some exposure to what Workday looks like (through demos and screenshots), will make it easier for you to focus on learning and using the system when the time comes.

Workday Student Sneak Peeks

If you did not attend the Workday Student Sneak Peek webinars in Spring/Summer 2024, we highly recommend setting aside time now to watch the recordings and review the Q&A. All recordings have a chapter menu so you can jump to specific points of interest.

New academic data structures

Workday has new terminology and organizing structures for what we think of as prime divisions (academic units), major/minor programs (programs of study), and more. Review Workday Student 101 webpages and the Workday Student 101 Sneak Peek to understand how Workday defines and organizes foundational academic data.

New registration tools and processes

Review key changes related to registration preparation, management and timing on the Registration & Curriculum webpages and in the Registration from the Student Perspective Sneak Peek webinar.

Updated course numbers

WashU has updated all course numbers to be four digits without letters in Workday for courses offered Fall 2025 onward – meaning, the classes students will begin registering for this spring.

Grading

With the transition to Workday Student, we will have a consistent set of grade options (called grading bases) and grade elements, which are the specific values that can be assigned.

Degree conferral

Workday has new terminology and processes related to how a student applies for program completion and how registrar offices verify that a student is ready to have their degree conferred.

PhD functionality

WashU will have a clearer view of doctoral candidate progress, funding and support with new PhD functionality in Workday.
