More graduate programs are now live in Slate for their admissions work, meeting a key Sunrise goal of reducing the number of administrative systems that support WashU’s academic mission.
To date, Sunrise, through its Graduate Admissions Project, has replaced seven admissions systems and two paper applications, plus created integrations for five schools and divisions.
Phase 1 of the project concluded in September 2022. Phase 2, which concluded in October, focused on integrating Slate with centralized application service (CAS) systems used by schools and programs at WashU (e.g., Law and Physical Therapy) that need to maintain common applications to remain competitive. Now that these integrations are complete, CAS systems pass student application information through Slate before it is loaded into today’s student information system (SIS). In Fall 2025, this information will feed into Workday Student.
“While there is still work to be done, we are thrilled with what we have been able to accomplish in a short amount of time,” said Jessie Runiewicz, Slate lead. “Despite the challenges faced along the way, the commitment from our campus partners continues to drive us forward.”
During Phase 2, the Graduate Admissions project team integrated Slate with the following programs:
- School of Medicine
- Occupational Therapy MS, OTD (OTCAS)
- Doctorate of Physical Therapy (PTCAS)
- Law School (Unite)
- Olin Business School (Salesforce)
- Master’s programs, Integrate with Salesforce
In addition to integrations, Phase 2 also launched applications in Slate for programs that previously did not use any admissions system, including:
- McKelvey School of Engineering
- Dual degree programs
- Cardiovascular Research Summer Program (CardS)
- McDonnell International Scholars Academy
- School of Medicine
- Population Health Sciences
To support Slate users, the Graduate Slate team launched slate.wustl.edu. This website serves as a central location for both graduate and undergraduate Slate support. Currently, the site includes training materials, login links, FAQs and contact information for Graduate Slate. Undergraduate support materials will be added at a later time. New functionality and system-wide announcements will also be communicated on the site.
