Fall readiness activities open to all

Go-live year for Workday Student begins this fall. Over the course of the 2024-25 academic year, WashU will transition to Workday as our core system supporting most academic and student support activities, including registration, advising, student records management and more.

Workday is a complex system and brings many changes to how we do things today. So even if you won’t need to use Workday for a couple months, now is the time to prepare. Several fall events are planned that are open to anyone interested.

Sneak Peeks continue

Workday Student Sneak Peeks continue this fall with three new topics and a repeat of Registration from the Student Perspective.

Sneak Peeks are 90-minute webinars designed for faculty, staff and graduate students who teach, advise or support students in any capacity. All instructors, registrars, advisors and departmental administrators are encouraged to attend, as well as those who manage course and curriculum information, student financials or financial aid.

While everyone is welcome to attend any session, the webinar descriptions will help you choose the best topics for your role.

Prior Sneak Peeks included broader topics such as Navigating the Student Profile and Workday Student 101: Get to Know Our New Student Information System. You can find recordings of previous Sneak Peeks, as well as FAQs for each topic, on the Student Sunrise website.

Mock enRoll

While Mock enRoll events are designed to help students “rock” their first registration in Workday, they offer a preview for anyone interested in how the system will look, feel and work. These fun events will be an important way for students to understand key changes to the registration process and practice registering for classes in Workday. Faculty and staff also are encouraged to attend, especially advisors or anyone who teaches, grades or supports registration.

At Mock enRoll, you’ll get a chance to practice how you will use Workday for tasks such as finding a student’s contact information, viewing a class roster, reviewing an advisee’s academic record, or finding course sections. Plus, you’ll practice using dashboards and running reports, and you’ll get a view of what students will see when they are in the system.

Everyone who attends Mock enRoll will receive a “backstage pass” to continue to explore Workday for a period after the event. This will allow you to take your time and dive deeper into the different ways in which you will use the system.

Each school or unit will host a Mock enRoll event (or two!) between Nov. 11 and Nov. 21. While you can attend any event, you may find it helpful to attend an event sponsored by your school or unit. These events are drop-in/open house style, so come when you can and stay as long as you can. Check out the schedule »
